The Story Behind Lux (lx)

Lumens concentrated into an area, lights up that area with an illuminance of lux. Lux is used to measure the amount of light output in a given area – one lux is equal to one lumen per square meter. Lux measures the total “amount” of visible light present and the intensity of the illumination on a surface.

We undertook an ambitious project to develop a cashless payment system for our events ecosystem where cash handling is a constant liability. The ecosystem of events we host and curator has grown to over 3.5 million visitors each year. One of our most notable created and curated events is the Chicago Cubs full season food truck rotation. In addition, we also host numerous large scale food & drink festivals throughout America. So in 2017, we set out to eliminate cash by creating a contactless cashless crypto currency wristband point of sale system. We chose the Stellar Platform for it’s speed, low cost and open source development. Stellar Payband was created. Each day our goals expanded. After we successfully added lumens to the payband we further expanded our goals. Next, we attempted to add every Stellar based token to the band. We also achieved that milestone much sooner than anticipated. As of December 2018, what started only as tool for our events ecosystem has expanded to include all Stellar based projects.

” We started with the Stellar Lumen blockchain as we believe it is a superior payment platform. However, similarly to how lumens emit bright light that expands and travels lighting the way by creating a lux, we too are expanding to now add more blockchains besides Stellar for payments to the new Lux Payband.”

Our success and brand integrity led us to further expand our project goals to include multiple blockchains including Stellar. Similarly, as lumens give off bright light that travels and expands creating a lux to light the way, we decided to rebrand as Lux Payband. A contactless cryptocurrency wristband for all blockchains using their unique tokens. Serving not only our ecosystem needs but furthering utility and adoption of cryptocurrencies by illuminating the path by creating a lux shining the way for more blockchains. One band to integrate them all.
